Shoulder & Quads Workoutwww.FatBuddhaFitness.com We're got a new theme this week, it's Spiral Workouts and this is the first of our offerings. It is, as the name suggests, going to work your shoulders and quads and hopefully leave the former burning and the latter quivering. It's pretty simple in that there aren't too many exercises and all you need to remember is that while the spiralling up will hurt, the spiralling down will kill! You start by increasing the numbers until you reach your maximum failure and then you decrease the subsequent rounds back down to your starting point, suffering all the way! Start with one press-up and four arm raises and then increase those according (2 3:12, 4:16 etc) until you feel you can go no further, and then come back down. For the wall sit and jumps do likewise, starting with a 10-second hold and then 10 jumps before increasing accordingly (20s, 30s, 40s etc) unless that's too hard, in which case go in increments of 5-seconds and 5-reps. Shoulder workout: Press-ups (increase in single digits) and arm-raises (four times as many as the press-ups) Quad workout: Wall sit (increase in 10-second increments) and side-to-side jumps (increase in 10-rep increments) If you're eager for more and a longer workout, feel free to do several sets, even changing slightly the types of press-ups, arm-raises, leg position in the wall sit and jumps that you do in each subsequent set if you like.
